Kid gloves.
Tomorrow I have a meeting with someone who controls a lot of my life. Usually I look at her and say "Okay, I'll do that." "Fine." "Uh-huh, okay." Because I really just want to placate her and get on with it. But it's finally time to take a stand and say "No, you're wrong. I need to do it this way." "No, that makes no logical sense." "No, you don't get what the study is about." "Oh my God, you're insane, please stop talking."
Well, maybe not.
Nonetheless, it's going to be uncomfortable and uneasy and I am not looking forward to this.
Except...I kind of am.
It's time, I think, more than time and some would say that I've finally grown myself my very own backbone.
The trick is going to be how to handle it. While I want to let the pseudo-Tourrette's go and say every single curse word I know (and thanks to questionable friends, it's a copious amount) and question everything about her, I can't. Damn being a grown up! But is it more politic to be polite and seem to be backing down, but really not? Or is it just better to be straightforward and clear that this is what needs to be done and you cannot bully me into the changes you want that don't make any sense? You cannot confuse me and obfuscate the issue and make me want to cry and then get your own way because I'm off weeping in a corner while you pat my head condescendingly and say "I'm really not trying to give you a hard time."
Damn liar.
If I have to be a grown-up, why can't other people?
(Whine, whine, whine...I'll have some crackers with that.)
